Reginald Boateng

Reginald Boateng (Accra, Ghana 1999) uses the lens of an iPhone to capture and edit beautiful stories to make colorful digital art. His work reflects on creating an imaginary world using vibrant colors and setting contrast with the melanin skin of his subjects. Boateng’s aesthetic is partly inspired by the traditional Ghanaian fabric called “Kente” (a brightly colored textile made with handwoven strips of threads). The colorful threads inform the artist’s saturated palette.

Boateng is a graduate of TV and film production at the Ghana Media School. His works has been featured on Prazzle Magazine and exhibited at Calabar Gallery NYC ,The Cowrie Culture, British Council Ghana, and Nubuke Foundation. Boateng lives and works in Accra, Ghana

Umang Shah

Umang Shah was born and raised in the United States by parents of Indian origin. Graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with degrees in Fine Arts and Architecture and becoming a registered architect has only enriched his visual reserve, while giving him the opportunity to explore using multiple subjectivities and a variety of materials. The paintings and drawings have developed into case studies utilizing but not limited to; charcoal, ink, acrylic and printed materials, providing unique textures through fonts and text.

As an artist, in his work, there are three main drivers; layering, transparency and process. The layering provides patterns which work in harmony and sometimes juxtapose each other, thus becoming an intersection between the seen and unseen. He has exhibited at Calabar Gallery, Jersey City Art and Studio Tour and is in private collections. He lives and works in Jersey City.
